This was my second cruise and I had heard a lot about Norwegian Cruise Lines, so I had always wanted to try cruising with them. I think that although the Epic is a nice ship, that I would have enjoyed my cruise much more if I was on a smaller ship. There was just way too many people onboard, so the service couldn't possibly be personal enough, unless you wanted to pay a lot extra to stay in the Haven. There was plenty to do on the ship, but most of it cost extra. I was very disappointed that there was even an extra charge for exercise classes. I was really looking forward to doing a zumba, spinning and yoga class, but once I found out you had to pay $12.00, I just went to the gym and ran on the treadmill and did some weights. I also think paying $23.60 for a TRX class (including gratuity) is ridiculous. The entertainment was great. I loved Howling at The Moon, Dueling Pianos, and Taylor, who played piano in the Shakers Nightclub. I also went to see Blue Man Group and thought they put on an amazing show. I was so excited that it was actually free. I thought the service at Spice H20 was great, and I especially liked a bartender named Edwin (I think). He was very nice, and very friendly and entertaining. The pool on this deck was very small, and always crowded, as were the hot tubs. The same five or six people seemed to be getting drunk in the hot tubs all day. Getting a beach chair was almost impossible, unless you got there at the crack of dawn. People were getting there at about 7:00 and putting towels on the chairs, and sometimes they never came back. This was not fair. The food was excellent, especially in LaCucina,, which is the only specialty restaurant we ate at. The Garden Café was also very good.
