This was our 7th cruise and 2nd with Royal Caribbean and likely our last with them. While we took the cruise with a large group of friends and family and thoroughly enjoyed our time with them, RC left us very disappointed with the level of quality for the cruise. The food in the main dining room was good but the Windjammer buffet left a lot to be desired. The variety of food was seriously lacking and the quality just as bad. Chops Grill was OUTSTANDING but Portofino left a lot to be desired with their menu choices and quality of food.
We had the feeling all week long like RC was cutting corners wherever they could with bars understaffed and generally disappointing level of service overall. Our cabin steward was fantastic as were the bartenders at the casino and sports bars but several of the bartenders at the pool bar were just plain rude and lazy. The selection of drinks on the premium drink package was outstanding but the need to sign a receipt every time you ordered a drink made no sense and was very annoying.
The ship itself was generally nice but seemed very dated in some areas, particularly around the pool deck. The railing cap was missing on our balcony railing along with all of the other rooms along our deck. There were exposed screws sticking out of the metal frame presenting a danger of injury to everyone who leaned on their balcony rail.
Our stateroom was ok overall but a bit tight compared to similar rooms we had on NCL and Princess. The bathroom in particular just seemed much smaller and was difficult to move around in and out of.
