Sail Date: Jan 2015

This was my 28th cruise on Carnival. My wife and I sailed out of Port Everglades on the Carnival Freedom. This was an eight day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. We have done this cruise a few times, going to Aruba, Curacao, and Grand Turk. We didn't have any problems on this cruise, and as usual, had a wonderful time. Yes, I have noticed changes on the ships that we have sailed on. I think that Carnival, like all the other cruise lines, are trying different ways to keep ticket prices down so more people can enjoy the cruising life style. I noticed that the bar prices have risen, but I don't feel that the prices are out of line. I noticed on this cruise, that I didn't have any of the "free" items in our bathroom, items like, a packet of aspirin, tooth paste, razor, antacid tablets, etc. Just imagine the cost savings of not providing these items to every cabin, on every ship, on every cruise. I don't go on a cruise to see what I can get for free. Most people pack their own tooth paste and razor. Both my wife and I enjoy cruising. If you think of everything that is included in the price of your cruise ticket, food, entertainment, relaxation, and not having to pack and unpack for several days, the warmth and sunshine, a cruise vacation is still quite a bargain. Yes, prices have gone up, but they have gone up on just about everything.

Cabin Review

Cabin 7261 is an inside cabin, on the Empress Deck, deck 7. My wife and I have been on cruises with inside cabins, cabins with a window, balcony cabins, and even a suite cabin. Cabin prices vary by type and location. I usually tell people going on their first cruise, to book an inside cabin. Having a window in your cabin is great if you plan on staying in your cabin all day. At night, out to sea, you won't see anything outside your window. Balcony rooms are nice, but are more expensive. Why sit on your own private balcony, when you can go outside on any of the open decks. Remember, your cabin is only a place where you will go to sleep. You won't want to be in it all day long.
