I just returned from a 4 night on Brilliance of the Seas and it was sore disappointment.

The port was great, the people were great, destination was great but that’s where it stops. This is not my first cruise but I won’t cruise on this ship again. I have been Royal Loyal until now. It isn’t just me either, our neighbors were not happy and several others that we spoke with were not impressed either.

I was cruising to celebrate my birthday and told the RCI representative I booked my cruise with. She offered to have the room decorated and a cake or champagne waiting. The room was decorated but no cake or champagne. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it so I let it go. Later during dinner they sang for several other people but never came to our table. I let that go as well but my boyfriend wasn’t having it and spoke with the manager. He was told it wasn’t in the system and told us to go to guest services. So now I feel like a jerk going to guest services because they didn’t sing for my birthday. The gal at guest services told me that I never paid for the cake so I don’t get one and I was lucky they didn’t charge me for the decorations because it “normally” costs $30 for them to decorate the room. The next night, we opted out of formal dining because the food wasn’t anything to write home about so why dress up for it. The third night we gave the dining room another chance. We were a few minutes late and the manager was trying to call us to dinner so he could sing for my birthday to make up for it. Again, I feel like a spoiled jerk but I had to let it play out so they could feel better about it. It was sweet of the manager to go through so much trouble for me for something, “I didn’t pay for”. Our servers and the dinning manager made up for the mediocre food. The manager always made us feel like royalty, greeting us every time he saw us.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

The aft view is awesome! The door to the balcony is very loose and difficult to work. The bathroom door won't latch well AND the door to the room doesn't latch well so be sure to press hard on both or the "ghost of the Brilliance" will open them during a rocky night. LOL I was seriously woken by the banging bathroom door in the middle of the night.
