We have been on seven cruises with many different cruise lines. We traveled on Carnival Sunshine Western Caribbean cruise February 28, 2015 through March 7, 2015. The cruise price was a bargain. We previously traveled with Carnival in the 1990's overall the food was much better and the service was greatly improved. The food in the main dining room was ok. Not bad not five star. We enjoyed the specialty restaurants. Ji Ji Asian Kitchen, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse and Cucina del Capitano were incredible. We appreciated the Chefs of the specialty dining stopping by our table, introducing themselves, and making sure everything was to our satisfaction. We would like to commend Chef Aryesh and Chef Anthony. Their passion for food, pride in the preparation and presentation and concern about our experience made our whole cruise. The Cloud 9 Spa was another unexpected surprise. I enjoyed the relaxing quiet atmosphere. Our room steward Mihn was wonderful.

However, some of the other passengers made me feel like I was sailing on the "SS Walmart". The ship was very crowded and noisy. We did not appreciate being woke up at 3:30 am every night by the partying crowd going back to their cabin. We were in cabin 6214 which had a balcony. It was small and did not have a refrigerator in it or an ice bucket. I went to guest services and asked to be upgraded but was told Carnival sails full and there would not be an opportunity to upgrade. They did say they would do whatever it took to make us happy. The Serenity Adult Only deck is impossible to get a seat on at 6:00 am all the seats were full. That was frustrating. It was a little easier to get a seat on the lido deck.

Overall, it was not the worst cruise but not the best. We probably won’t travel again on Carnival because we prefer a quieter crowd.

Cabin 8B

We were in cabin 6214 which had a balcony. It was small and did not have a refrigerator in it or an ice bucket. Our cabin steward did give us a ice bucket after we requested it a couple of times. We did not appreciate being woke up at 3:30 am every night by the partying crowd going back to their cabin. I went to guest services and asked to be upgraded but was told Carnival sails full and there would not be an opportunity to upgrade.
