My wife on I are in our early 60's and retired. The purpose of this cruise was to extend our escape from the Canadian Winter. We have done 20 plus cruises and were looking for something inexpensive yet comfortable.
We have done the hotel thing in Fort Lauderdale to get the free parking but have found that staying a few hours north of the embarkation port and then driving to FLL on cruise day works well for us. The cost of the hotel plus the $8 per day parking at Park and Go works out about the same as getting an expensive hotel in FLL with parking included. Dealing with the hotel shuttles and lack of control over your arrival time at the pier make driving in from Daytona a much better option. Park and Go is a breeze.
Having read a few negative reviews about the ship I had my concerns. The ship was great. The service was wonderful. Sure the ship is not brand new. Yes there is worn carpets in some locations. Yes there are dents and bangs on some of the furnature but that is to be expected on an 11 year old ship.
