The reviews were so critical in the planning for our recent cruise, that I feel obligated to do the same. What I found was generally the difference between good and bad reviews was mostly down to expectations. You cannot really say that some cruisers are needy, because your needs are totally taken care off, so it comes down to wants (new word warning – wanty) rather than needs. That is not to say that surprises don’t happen, but for to most part all of the cruise lines that we have travelled on do their best to resolve any issues that comes up. So my advice to anyone taking a cruise on the Dawn is to set your expectations on things that can be achieved. If you are expecting to be treated like royalty then you are going to be disappointed, but if your expectations are to enjoy good food, good company, great stops, and to relax, then you are on the right track.
Embarkation. Easy. Make sure you get there as early as possible. We usually shoot for 11.30AM.
Disembarkation. Very easy and quick, if you walk off with your luggage. Still easy even if you go with pre-allotted times.
Great room. Plenty of cupboard space for two people. Bathroom was more spacious that on other ships. the lovely Louvelle was excellent and knew our names from day one. The view from the picture window was great, both on the water and in the ports.
