Zuiderdam Review, March 3-10, 2007, Eastern Caribbean, Cabin 7008, Category VA. My husband and I are in our 60s and have cruised 3 previous times, once on HAL & twice on NCL.
After a rocky start with a cancelled flight, rebooking at an airport 2 hrs away requiring an overnight stay we hadn't planned on, getting to our gates with just minutes to spare, we were ready to relax when we got to our FL motel, Sleep Inn, Dania Beach. We hit the happy hour (4-7) at Pancho's Backyard, a good neighborhood Spanish/Mexican restaurant in a shopping center across the street. Margaritas are $2.50 during happy hr. Also ate an early dinner there - the food was very good. Walked to the ocean about 1-1/2 miles away - awesome beach, Hollywood North Beach Park, Keating Beach. Used Sleep Inn shuttle service from the airport and to the port. Good brkfst buffet incl. make-your-own waffles. Room was OK. Motel had nice pool & hot tub.
EMBARKATION This went smoothly, probably helped by our being Mariners. Got to embarkation area around 11:50 and were in the dining room for lunch by 12:15. The only problem was with the check-in agent having trouble making up our room cards. She left us for about 5 minutes & made them on another machine. We both had trouble with the cards working in our cabin door and had to have them recharged at the Front Office.
