Jewell of the Seas by BigBrit This was our 3rd cruise in the past 3 years, all have been over Spring Break. Two were on Royal Caribbean one on Princess. We travelled in a group of about 75 people ranging in age from 8 to 60.We had a group of high school seniors with us. There were some good things and some bad things on the cruise. Embarkation was a breeze and I was overall impressed by the ship itself. It had a good design and was in great shape.

Cabins Our Cabin 7561 was smaller than other balcony cabins and also had a smaller balcony. Underneath all the beds was extra bedding (for some future project) which meant we had to find room in our smaller than expected room for our suitcases which was difficult to do. Our Cabin steward did a great job keeping our room clean and the towels replenished. Our children were in another room and the service for their room was terrible. Very poor job keeping the room clean, no clean towels and one night the steward shoved all the clothes (including wet swimsuits and shoes) which were not hung up under a chair. I asked the steward if he thought that was appropriate and he sternly told me yes.

The food The food was OK with the exception of Chops which was excellent-The filet at Chops ranks up with the best I have had. The breakfast and lunch at the Windjammer was rather repetitive after a while but the food was certainly well prepared. The Seaview cafe was good (great Onion Rings!) and their was decent pizza and crepes at the Solarium. The main dining room food passed as decent food but rarely great food. The service at our table was excellent and unlike the cabin service the service at dinner for the kids was fantastic. Entertainment In one word Bad, very dated and really nothing memorable. The major difference between Princess and Royal Caribbean is in this area. The cruise director was OK but a little full of himself. They seem to be catering to an older crowd.
