My husband and I along with nine friends just returned from our Panama Canal cruise yesterday. Our embarkation in Miami went smoothly and after just a short time in line outdoors we were whisked through the Platinum level check in and were onboard and having lunch in the Market cafe. As is our normal procedure we went immediately to the Spa and registered for thermal spa package allowing us to use the indoor lap pool, sauna, steam room, hot tubs, lounges, and chairs throughout the cruise. It is the perfect place to read and relax.
Our room steward, Harvey, was friendly and did a great job keeping our small inside cabin looking neat. We loved all of our towel animals. He emptied our refrigerator so we could use it to keep our treats (chocolate covered strawberries and Godiva chocolates) and water cool. Sail away was delayed because 200 extra pallets of supplies were being loaded to take to Portland following our cruise for use when the ship headed for dry dock for renovations. It wasn't a problem.
We have been on the Star cruising the Western Caribbean and the Mexican Riviera previously and love the fact she is one of the fleets smaller ships. Her size allows passengers to really get to know the wonderful crew members. We can't say enough about Hugo (Hotel Director), Vik (Food and beverage Director), Barrington (Executive Chef) and Rosie (Maitre D). They and those who work alongside of them go beyond their job descriptions to make you feel like family. If Jim is playing piano and singing make a point to go listen and join in the singing. He is amazing.
Plenty of room for two but a tight squeeze for four (cabin offers a bunk and a trundle in addition to the main beds). Bathroom is adequate. There is a small table, a chair, a stool, drawers, and a closet. No coffee pot but there is a refrigerator. Location was close to the internet cafe and elevators but noise is not a problem.
