Some people aspire to be in a resort when they cruise. We'd like to see the different countries with all their good and bad parts. On Royal Caribbean, and in the Western Caribbean, we felt as though we were living in a Disney world. Labadee is scrubbed of any sense of being in Haiti and Falmouth is scrubbed of a sense of being in Jamaica unless you work hard at getting out of the compound. We found this disappointing and really affected our overall appreciation of the cruise. Other things that we noticed... 1... the staff just don't seem to be all that happy. Sure, a few here and there were happy but overall, the morale was not up to par. .... 2.... They offered "My Time" dining but really didn't. ... the dining room staff pushed reservation times on us and we did end up reserving just to make our lives easier -- but we had to fit into the ship's agenda, not what WE wanted. We were made to feel that we were imposing by expecting to be able to show up at the dining room and get a table. There was no slick process in place to accommodate MyTime. .... 3 .... Not a lot of variety on the buffet salad bar..... 4.... GOOD STUFF.... Desserts... mmm especially the Lollipop Cheesecake....Entertainment was above average with the production numbers being very well executed and we enjoyed the use of multimedia and real action. Overall, the ship was well maintained, the buffet dining area was pleasant. The weather wasn't the greatest and the staff did try to alleviate some of the boredom of spending an extra unexpected day at sea.
