We were pretty dedicated Hal passengers until our last Hal cruise to the Panama canal when we had lots of mechanical problems with our room on Zuiderdam . So we decided to try Celebrity . Parked in the garage in Ft Lauderdale and took the elevator down to boarding level , pretty easy , since we had already dropped our two big suitcases off at the curb right next to the terminal. The room ( 7159 ) wasn't ready til about 1pm but at noon we were able to "sneak" in there and leave our carryons so we could go to the Lido for lunch . The lunch buffet was pretty good , but not as varied as Hal . Room service breakfast was always on time ( we always order coffee and a little something else ) and I like their idea of calling us on the phone to tell us it was on the way . After that each morning we went to the Lido for eggs and omelettes , which were very good .
The room service breakfast selections ( for free) were very limited unlike Hal where you can order anything in the room for breakfast . I really missed their steamed prunes . Dinner each night in the dining room was very nice , service was excellent . The food was good , but not great , about the same as Hal . Our head waiter Domingos did a great job and we were at table 801 most of the time with a great view of the ships wake .
Burgers near the pool was a disappointment , not made fresh but pulled from a reheat pan . Hal was sooo much better on that . Entertainment , particularly the ship's singers dancers and acrobats were far superior to Hal .
