This family of seven(five first timers)drove from Virginia to Florida the day prior to sailing. We arrived at the terminal parking lot at noon and were onboard with beverages in hand by 12:30. Embarkation process was smooth and efficient.Rooms ready at 1:30pm as promised - dropped off our carryons and explored ship.Luggage arrived approx.5:00pm.The Elation decor is somewhat subdued compared to the other ships we have been on.Very calm and soothing.Of course there are some signs of wear and tear but no outright horrible damages or dinginess. The staff worked diligently to keep her clean. Our staterooms were comfy and roomy.E27&E31.Each room had a pull down bunk for the boys(8,4)and we had a roll-a-way for the girl(3).A bit tight but not unmanageable. Our room steward, Suphot, was fantastic!!!He really earned his tip and more. We did not experience any of the sewage smells or difficulties with plumbing that others have previously reported. The a/c worked very well and we stayed comfortable. Daily activities were abundant and provided for fun for all ages. The children loved Camp Carnival and were very at ease with the staff. Age appropriateness played a big part in keeping their attention. They even participated at the(for a fee)slumber party one night.

This was a "Spring Break" sailing and there were 900 youngsters on board. We did not experience any major problems with so many "kids". Yes there was the occasional running and bumping but not really any more so than on other cruises we've enjoyed. There were one or two passengers we overheard complaining about seeing kids every time they turned around but I believe they would have complained had there been even 1 child on board. We did have some of the magnets disappear from our stateroom door one night but that too has occurred on other cruises.

Our extended family chose to eat in the dining room each evening. What a wonderful way to expose the youngsters to fine dining and proper manners. We were at the last sitting in the Imagination dining room and Jay and Nada were our servers. They were both absolutely wonderful with the kids and our oldest is now quite adept at ordering from the menu by himself. Never once was he talked down to or "dismissed" because of his age. Serving our entire family was a top priority for the staff and very much appreciated by us. Each of us sampled many new dishes and enjoyed the variety. Not quite elegant gourmet but definitely more upscale than what is served at home. The 4 year old had his fill of shrimp cocktail every night.
