A wonderful trip where we saw no end of wildlife, and I would recommend to anyone interested in birds and aquatic life. In terms of giving an account of what you will see and the standards of the crew and naturalists I don't think I can improve on what's been said by others, but there are some things I've not seen said elsewhere about the trip.
One thing I had assumed was that all of the passengers would be interested in the wildlife. Many, of course, were, but a surprising number had a pretty superficial interest. An example from the last day: one guest asked what the big bird was flying over the ship. It was a frigate. And we had seen at least five every day when they follow the ship for in some cases several hours. Others came up up with very odd ideas "no self respecting animal would live here". Still others were more interested in the quantity of animals than the animals themselves - "we only saw one flamingo". True, but it stood some three metres away for the whole time we were there, offering closer views than you would get in most zoos.
And there was one overheard comment of "I'm glad it is sunny - that's what we came for."
More space than we expected for the cheapest cabin
