This was our second cruise with Royal Caribbean, the first being on the Navigator of the Seas back in 2012. Since this was a bigger ship, we expected a bit more compared to our prior cruise. We now have a 2 year old child so the reason we took this cruse was because of their Royal Babies and Tots Nursery.

In retrospect, while the ship had many shortfalls, The Nursery (the most important part) was great. They really did provide a great service at a reasonable price (approx. $6 per hour). The nursery itself is located down a long decorated hallway with a well equipped day care room / nursery at the end. There were normally two or three day care workers on staff. As with most employees on cruise ships, the workers were from a variety of different countries which is neither good or bad, as they all seemed very attentive and qualified. The workers seemed to be good at comforting and playing with the children. They have a variety of movies and TV shows to play for the children in a variety of languages. Our cruse didn't have that many children under 3 or not that many parents who wanted to take advantage of daycare.. so it was very easy to get time. Sadly, there were days when our daughter was the only child in the nursery. Overall, we took the cruse because of the nursery and it did allow us to have some much needed time to ourselves so it was a successful experience.

The ship itself was nice but not amazing. It was very much like the Navigator of the Seas. The royal promenade was almost identical. It seems that the pool area was a bit bigger, and they do have an H2O zone / water park which has a very small area for toddlers. It was literally one little baby pool, but our daughter loved it. It would have been nice if there was a slide of some sort for the children and even the adults.

Cabin Review

Promenade Family Stateroom

Royal Caribbean actually gave our room to someone else. Yes they double booked the same room. Crazy. As a result, they made us wait two hours until they could find us a room. We had originally reserved a larger interior room and they finally gave us a promenade view room which was technically better than the room we originally booked but it was smaller which made our stay fairly cramped. The original room we booked had an 20 to 30 square feet which doesn't seem substantial but it would have helped. With a crib and bed in our room we literally only had a 2 foot path to walk in the room. So 20 more square feet would have been significant. And the cruse line didn't even offer anything to compensate for the additional 2 hour wait and the inconvenience of giving us a smaller room. It did leave a sour note at the beginning of our cruse.. but we took it in stride and stayed positive.
