I and my brother and sister were on the February 3, 2015 sailing of the Grandeur of the Seas. We were informed on the previous Friday about the coming delay due to the deep cleaning of the ship. We got to the port around 12:45pm and had to wait to enter the bag drop area and then park the car. The line started moving almost exactly at 1:00pm as we had been told by RCCL. The security check and check-in went very smoothly and we were in the second bunch of passengers to board the ship We did not expect a smooth cruise due the the previous cruise's problems, but considering the circumstances it was not as bad as some of the other reviews that I have read.

We had a Junior Suite (8050) so we were in the first group allowed into their staterooms. Since the ship had been deep cleaned all of the expected items in the stateroom were missing....just the bare necessities were there....the extras came back in increments as the cruise went on. The biggest problem on the cruise were the passengers who thought that they were going to call the shots and not listen to offer and crew member instructions i.e. trying to get into their staterooms before their area was ready, not cleaning their hands before entering a dining venue, and the topper of them all, using their hands to get items from the buffet. If we would have had another breakout of the virus all of these passengers would have been the first ones to point their fingers at RCCL when they were probably the cause of the problem.

All in all the cruise was pretty decent. I did not do any of the shows in the theater. I only went ashore in Saint Martin to take a trip over to St. Barths (which was a pretty nice trip). The crew was pretty good considering what they had gone through to get the ship ready for departure and having to put up with the antics of the put-me-first passengers.

The stateroom was nice and roomy and the balcony was nice. The only problem was the noise from chairs and tables being moved in the Solarium which was directly above our stateroom. I would opt for just a balcony stateroom on deck 7 to avoid the 24 hour noise......and save some money!
