It is a bit odd writing a review of a ship that is about to go into dry dock for 45 days of repair and change, and then be stationed in another part of the world, so I will consider this review as much an ode to RCCL as to our particular cruise.

We sailed on February 12, 2015 for a 9 day trip to the ABCs. We arrived a day early and were able to watch a rocket launch from the Cocoa Beach Pier. This was very cool! The next morning we spent three hours at the Kennedy Space Center, with time to see both the shuttle and the Apollo rocket. Then off to board. The new terminal at Port Canaveral is nice, with three lines. One for Diamond and Suites (very long line—which we evidently qualified for as newly minted Platinum members), one for Gold (a shorter, but still long line), and one for those with no status (first timers?), which was short. We went to that line, and were on our way quickly. Before boarding, there was yet another line, with an express section that included us as Platinum or higher (the sign only said Diamond or higher, but we were directed to it).

This cruise was made for relaxing—four of the eight full days were sea days, and one of the port days was Labadee, which is really like a sea day but with land. So we did, indeed relax—lots of time lounging on the balcony of poolside. So, lots of time to notice the ship—which was nice and clean and well kept, unless you wanted to inspect for the rough spots, which you could find if you looked. So yes, a 15 year old ship is not as new and shiny as a brand new ship, but it was still very nice!

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

Cabin was well maintained, balcony was comfortable, and there was more than enough storage. I suppose it will be all torn out in a week or so anyway... It was quiet--we had no trouble sleeping in!
