Embarking was the quickest we had experienced thus far as there was no waiting to go on board and no lines. Perhaps everyone was paying attention to those passes in our documents stating no one would be allowed to board until 2pm. We were in the Windjammer eating by noon.
Food was great as usual. We had Lucito from India as our waiter this time. Oscar was his assistant and did a fantastic job as well. Moses, our head waiter was with us each and every night and checked in with each and every guest. These gentlemen worked very hard for their tips and we rewarded them much extra! We did not visit Portofinos but our tablemates had and thought it was good as usual. We enjoyed Johnny Rockets for the first time and oh those milkshakes!
We are spoiled with corner aft cabins. Thanks to our TA for working diligent to get them for us. Our room was great and the balcony is smaller than 7388 right below us. We had a door instead of sliding door to the balcony and once we got used to how to work it we were great. Amanda, our steward, did an outstanding job taking care of us. No complaints at all.
We loved the ice skating shows, love and marriage, and quest of course. We had been used to Alan Brooks as our CD, but Eric sure held his own with this crowd. He changed things up a bit doing some of the activities in the royal promenade, but he sure got the guests attending more functions this way!!!
We attended a great meet and mingle and the crown and anchor party. We met some wonderful people both online with our cruise critic buddies and also fellow c and a members.
The ports: We did a city tour and air boat ride in Belize. These citizens are great. We were treated fantastic and enjoyed our ride and learning about the people of the city of Belize. We are anxious to return here. Next stop,Costa Maya, we did the usual stores in the port area but took the taxi to go to town to see if it was better than last year. Wow...what fun we had. We shopped and talked to so many folks and sat in swings and drank. Oh and the massages....the we should have done that...next time for sure. Then Cozumel. We shopped and shopped and shopped. We returned to some back street shoppes we found last year and found more neat stores to go into. The people are so great. We can't wait to get back. Then Grand Cayman where we took the Atlantis sub tour. Wow...what a neat tour. The water was very rough getting out and back from the sub but once inside you didn't know that. We saw some great sea life and a huge lobster.
Our sea days were spent in the spa the first sea day. I enjoyed a great facial and foot massage and the hubby had to have a swedish massage. The second sea day we lounged at the pool enjoying the music and contests going on.
We are booked already for Jewel of the Seas in Dec to visit these ports again, but we will be back on the Explorer in Feb 08 for a 12 night cruise in cabin 7388.
Leaving the ship was sad as we had a wonderful time once again. This crew takes great care of the ship and are very proud. We were off and on our way through customs around 10am. This is were you get delayed at no fault of RCCL. Our government has to find ways of making money and they treat you like you are trying to get something over on them when they look at your forms. I would really like to tell them to open my suitcases and look at my seapass bill and then tell me what I am smuggling in....nah, I do want to cruise again.
Final thoughts: Oh yes we are cruising again and on the Explorer. We enjoy and appreciate how we are treated and talked to many other guests who have cruised many other lines and yet keep returning to RCCL.
