There were no real surprises. The ship is nice. For some reason I got easily turned around, going aft when I should have been going forward. Lets start with the really good: the entertainment. Oh my, there was some real talent in the production shows. I enjoyed every one of them. The theatre was laid out nicely and I never had a problem finding a good seat. The other entertainment was pretty good. Didn't like the magician, but rarely do. The comedy club was good. I enjoyed several shows there. The cruise director, Jen, was awesome. She was funny, talented, and very approachable. I saw her all over that ship and in port also. She always seemed to be having a great time and never failed to greet me like a friend. The entertainment crew were enjoying their jobs and it showed. The cabin stewards were very friendly and efficient. Our steward, Galih, was very nice to us and concerned for my husband's well being when he spent more than a usual amount of time in the room. My husband tires easily and spends quite a bit of time resting. We asked for ice the first day and never had to ask again. Fresh ice was always in the bucket. The room was adequate, inside, deck 1. It was an economy deal for us on this trip. The beds were comfortable, thermostat worked fine, and we are pleased that Carnival still offers robes for our use. Love that feature. Towel art was whimsical and a new one every night. Carnival still does chocolates on the pillow. Yay. What was not so good? The dining room service. Really quite unsatisfactory. Long delays in getting our food served and often it was cold when it arrived. We were still on our appetizers when other tables were finishing dessert. The staff was nice enough. I can't put my finger on what was wrong, it just wasn't up to par. The food was OK, not outstanding. Brunch in the dining room was awful. Tried it once and never went back. The menu was not acceptable, the food tasteless and the service poor. The buffet was good, not too crowded, and usually had available seating. The Guy Fieri burgers were wonderful. I am craving them now. Never had a burger I really liked on a cruise before.
Never had a room on deck one before. We booked with a tour group and they put us all on deck 1. Our room was midship, so really pretty convenient. Didn't mind being on the bottom deck, except there was some noise like stuff rolling around the interior of the ship, pretty much all night long. I sleep pretty well, so it wasn't a problem for me. The room was compact, but not cramped. There was almost enough closet space. The bathroom was the usual. The water temp in the shower was easy to control. Carnival has quit providing the bowl of cosmetic goodies I always looked forward to receiving.
