First, I know you can't predict the weather, but this was the biggest factor for my title.

We left LA on a nice night but by the morning, there was nothing but 4 ft. waves, cloudy skies and cold temperatures. So for the next four days this was the weather rocking & rolling. Out of 15 days, there were only two days where it was sunny. It was so windy on the Promenade Deck that it was VERY difficult to walk around it. I was so glad to get to Hilo and on some solid ground. This was our 10th Princess cruise, so I feel that I am pretty experienced. I don't get sea sick, but there were so many sick people on the boat (a lot of sneezing/coughing) and quite a few ended up being quarantined.. The ship was supposed to have been significantly refurbished in 2011 and I can honestly say I don't know where they used the money, because my idea and theirs of refurbishing are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum, I figured they used it in the Piazza/ public areas, because the staterooms were just the same old tired design. It was so cold on the ship, the air conditioning/heating was so erratic one minutes you were hot and the next part of the ship was like an iceberg. (I got sick the last day, and I blame it on the air/heat) There were water leaks every where you turned . On our deck, (Emerald), The Horizon Court Buffet, the Promenade Deck was closed partially one day. The doors in the woman's restrooms would not shut entirely. The trim in the theater was either missing or loose in places. The food was mediocre (lots and lots of fish ,even too much for a fish lover like me). The furniture in the bars, lounges, clubs seem a bit worn and tired.

We ended up missing Kauai due to high winds, (the port I really wanted to go to) but would rather be safe than sorry. The crew were very professional and very nice (only one thought she was better than anyone and was an expert on everything). I like sea days (2-3 in a row ok) but we had 4days going over and 6 days coming back due to the missed port....there was not another ship of any kind either way, and I found out just how big the Pacific Ocean really is.

Cabin Review

Cabin GG

Our cabin was nice, and it really wasn't obstructed that much. You could see plenty of sky when you looked outside (which I must have.....I don't do inside cabins. The first thing I noticed was the half sized closet. I was used to full length ones on the other Princess ships so was taken back when I saw how little space we had for two people for 15 days. (but I survived). The handle on our safe in our room was very hard to turn. It seemed every time I turned the shower on all I got was luke warm water, yet the water in the sink was always very hot.
