I'm writing this review because I read so many negative reviews and want to give some perspective. The embarkation process was okay but could have been better. Our party was made up of me 47, my husband 59, and D 22, and S 16. This was President's day week and schools were closed in NY. There were a lot of little kids on this cruise. Ironically few college-age kids, since colleges were not closed. We left NY it was about 20 degrees and arrived at the terminal about 12:15pm and waited outside for about 40 minutes in the freezing cold. There was heat being piped from above but it wasn't enough. I felt there could have been a barricade of some sort to protect passengers from the elements. About 30 minutes into the wait, a Norwegian staffer inform us that only those checking in their luggage need to wait on line, too little, too late! Once we got in to the building there was definitely more staff and more information, about 30 minutes later we were in our cabin.

The ship is beautiful! It doesn't have that gleaming, glitzy Carnival feel but the decor is mature and understated. The atrium has a great communal, welcoming feel and since it extends to deck 7, we spent so much time watching events from there. Norwegian needs to start upholstering those chairs there though, they were the only thing on this ship that I saw that was in obvious disrepair.

We had two balcony cabins, they were spacious, with plenty of storage space. In fact, even the bathroom was a nice size and meticulously kept clean by Velda. The balconies were more than enough for 2 pp and ours (9736) was slightly angled and set up for 3 with one long lawn chair and two deck chairs. Actually my kids had two long chairs and two deck chairs. I'm not sure why people complain about the balconies. Get a mid-ship cabin if you can, this ship is massive and many activities take place in the back of the ship. I'm no slouch but it's quite a walk from the back to the front of the ship. 16 yo son joined the teen club and met up with many other kids and had a wonderful time and said this was his best cruise. He has been on at least five cruises. I'm not sure if it was the actual activities or just the ability to meet other kids. Daughter had a great time, keeping busy although she never really found too many young people her age. Maybe activities geared specifically for 18 -25's would be nice. I think they may be too young for those single events.
