This was our first time cruising with Norwegian. We selected this particular cruise due to the port (Tampa) as well as the itinerary, having never been to Roatan or Belize. The ship is obviously older, which we expected, but the lack of maintenance in the cabins really shows. There were several cracks and marks in the (tiny) shower. There was a crack in the bath vanity with a loose screw sticking out over an inch. The balcony had large spots missing paint, and the balcony furniture was mismatched and rusted. The bathroom light acted like a strobe light for the first 10 to 15 seconds after you turned it on. The TV remote did not work very well, and the tv had to be the cheapest flat screen tv ever made. The room was big enough and had plenty of storage. The bed was relatively comfortable, although a bit too firm for us. We asked for extra pillows and quickly received them.
We found the public rooms to be decent and comfortable for the most part, although some of the equipment in the gym was a bit dated. Generally speaking, the crew/employees were very pleasant and competent. We really enjoyed the comedian as well as the musician/singer Riley who entertained several nights in the Windjammer lounge, he was fantastic. The assistant cruise director Simon was a very entertaining "game show" host.
Thankfully, we don't go on cruises for the food, as this was the worst food I've ever had on a cruise. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't that good either. Other than breakfast, I would have been very disappointed with the meals had I paid for them in a restaurant.
Lack of regular maintenance was very apparent. Room was sizeable with plenty of storage.
