Well, that’s what I thought when I first saw the cabin! But, once we started moving about the ship, my feelings changed. Of course we knew that this is an old ship, but over the years I suppose we have been spoiled by the newer vessels. The cabin (4151) is small, which I suppose is what we expected, but it is also very tatty, the shower was very bad, with the grouting and sealant in very poor condition. Setting the thermostat was an art, all the numerals having been worn away, probably due to the age. The beds? Oh dear, the mattresses are well beyond there sell by date, and should be binned ASAP. This particular cabin was also very noisy, at one point my wife, not known for her patience, went on a search and destroy mission to find the cause of all the banging, fortunately, for who or what was responsible, she didn’t find them or it
The public rooms are clean and well appointed, seating is adequate especially the sun loungers.
The entertainment is excellent, especially the main shows, the show team is exceptional. This cruise was a back-to-back cruise with two separate weekly cruises pushed together to make a two week holiday, the down side to this is that the entertainment is repeated, to some extent this should be expected, but the repeats are everywhere, even down to the ‘ad-libs’ and the corny jokes given over the PA. They even repeated a video tribute to Frankie Howard? Was there no, more current, comedians available? Ken Dodd for instance, at least he’s still alive. In fact, should you consider this cruise, then take a note book with you, you could win all the competitions and prizes, yep, even the questions are the same.
