my husband and I have cruised over 40 times and are Diamond members on RCCL- as others, we were very apprehensive about this cruise because of the negative reviews which improved however with recent January posts- we were late arriving to the ship (past our scheduled time) due to a late hotel shuttle and freezing rain/ice- once on board (very quick) we got some amazing pictures of ice and snow on our balcony, deck chairs, etc.- I had booked all our restaurant and show reservations on line and none were "lost"and diner reservations were honored on time. We loved all of the restaurants we tried- my husband preferred not to take a jacket with him so we did not eat at the Grande- (we were surprised to learn that they did not enforce the dress code). Wonderland was imaginative- Silk, Chops, Chic, American Icon, Devin's were all good but our favorite for 3 nights was Jamie's. All the shows and entertainers were excellent to include the "virtual" band concerts in the 270- the Solarium was a wonderful bonus on cool days when the outdoor pools were not usable- we had been to all the ports several times so chose shore excursions for boating/sailing rather than sight-seeing- we especially appreciated our wonderful captain who kept us informed during the storm we sailed through on our return home- he kept the ship close to land where the wind and waves were more comfortable- the captain empathized with and apologized frequently to those cruisers who were sea sick- we felt the ship handled the wind and waves well- I also do not book a cabin on the top decks on certain itineraries like this one in the winter- the crew was very attentive and caring- our steward Eco did a spectacular job without being intrusive- the activities abounded on this ship but because of our age (65+) we did not take part in many but enjoyed watching the younger folks!- we obviously appreciated the complimentary alcoholic drinks every evening but that seemed to leave less room for other perks like free laundry especially for those who don't drink- we always do a winter cruise so we are warm for a week or so and when we return it is not as long until spring- this year in northern Massachusetts we have so much snow we may plan a longer trip next year- we'll have to decide between Norwegian Breakaway or Anthum- for now, we are grateful for the time spent on Quantum

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

D1 balcony- room large except for small distance between the bed and balcony door- we had a deep balcony which allowed my spouse to take some breathtaking wave/spray pictures from our balcony without falling over!- could have used a table and chairs on the balcony- close to elevators which we tried not to use!- bathroom well laid out and shower large- plentiful storage- night light in bathroom thoughtful
