My wife and I sailed in the Island Princess from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale Feb 4 to Feb 19, 2015. This was our first cruise with Princess Cruises (it won't be our last)! The ship has two more salings before it heads to Dry Dock in Italy. There will be a major makeover of the ship's interior, with the addition of a number of new suites among other changes.
The food was very good, with some meals better than others. The cabin service was excellent, if we needed something, all we needed to do was make the request, and literally within minutes we had it. We found the entertainment on this cruise to be the best we have seen on the sea! Dining room service was perfect.
Boarding was seamless in Los Angeles. Disembarkation in Fort Lauderdale was delayed by a shortage of Customs officials in the terminal to process the passengers in an expeditious manner, but I don't think anyone missed their flights home. The ship's process was designed to work smoothly, the lack of help in the terminal caused the slowdown.
We had a fantastic time on the Island Princess! The cabin with two Television sets, a tub with shower worked very well for us. Our cabin steward was very helpful in many ways.
