This trip was our first without our one and a half year old son. The sailing on Liberty of the Seas was my fifth cruise, all with Royal Caribbean and my wife's second. She was skeptical of this trip because our first cruise was a three night sailing on Monarch of the Seas that didn't leave her with a great impression of cruising due to rough seas and storms. We originally hoped to book a sailing on an Oasis Class ship but decided a five night sailing was better because it was two days less away from our son.

We left the cold and snow of Northeast Ohio on Sunday February 8th with a flight out of Cleveland Ohio on Spirit Airlines. After landing in Ft. Lauderdale we took a taxi to the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina. We choose this hotel because it featured a great view of all the ships in port. We paid an extra $20 to get a room with a Balcony facing the port, it was well worth it. We had a fantastic view of The Regal Princess, Oasis of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Two Holland America Ships and a Celebrity Ship. After watching three or four ships sail away we decided to go down and find dinner. We settled for the hotel restaurant, this was the only bad meal we had the entire trip. We ordered two flat breads, two Corona's and two Raspberry Daiquiri's the bill was well over $100. The flat breads were nothing but average and hardly worth the price tag but I guess living in the Cleveland Area things are cheaper than in the Miami area. After dinner we went back up to our room which was about what you would expect from a Hilton. The pool and fitness center were fantastic. I didn't swim but enjoyed my workout, there was plenty of modern equipment and even an area outside to use dumbbell free weights, do yoga or stretch. We took a shuttle from the Hilton to the Cruise terminal the next morning.
