We are a retired couple, we cruise twice a year, have done about 20 cruises with several companies. Our 14 day cruise on Azamara Quest started in Singapore and ended in Bali. We had a balcony cabin on the 7th floor. This was our first cruise with Azamara and costing about 50% more than other cruise lines our expectations were high. Comparing it with (for example) Cunard, the cabin was comparable in size and amenities but the bed, pillows and sheets were superior quality; the food was about the same as Cunard certainly not better; the service in terns of attentive staff was superior; the entertainment was inferior; the atmosphere on the ship was casual and very friendly. Believing this was an 'all inclusive' cruise we were disappointed with the many options to pay for extras AND the price for those extras. For example they state that beer wine and 'select' spirits are 'complimentary' the word 'select' should read 'some' as some drink e.g. brandy and port must be paid for. Also the half bottle of wine left on the desk in the cabin will set you back £20 if you drink it and the same goes for the booze in the fridge. The excursions were also prohibitively expensive. We enjoyed the cruise, the staff, the atmosphere and the other passengers but it was not good value for money and did not meet expectations.
