My family consisting of myself, husband, and two daughters have experience with cruising and Royal has been our primary cruise line. We were excited to book the new ship, the Quantum. We waited over 6 months from booking to cruising. I started reading reviews just prior to final payment and was getting concerned. I actually asked my husband to cancel and rebook another voyage. He wanted to experience for himself.

Well let's begin. We get to the port on Feb 13. I found the check in process to be flawless even though everyone carried around tablets and the fact the first pics must have not taken as we were told to retake just prior to boarding. The ship is beautiful, our room was fantastic, room 9550. The room was ready before 1 pm. We went to the Windjammer and as always a great selection. We never had a problem with Windjammer. Dinner was always an adventure that we hated. First dinner at American Icon was soooooo slow and very frustrating. Well over a half hour to get my husbands wine. We all got cranky by dinners end, and really nothing to call home about. Next night, Grande, just as slow, with the second waiter consistently bringing over other tables drinks, food. We learned very quickly to not order wine with dinner as it either would take forever to come or who knows if we would get what we ordered. My husband is convinced the first glass of wine was not what he ordered but the waitress would not hear it. Food was good at the a Grande as well as Chic. Silk was less than appealing. None of us enjoyed our meal. Cafe 270 was one of our favorite spots. The roast beef sandwich is awesome. Jamie's Italian is AWESOME, should not be missed.

What we feel is wrong is that Royal wanted to go high tech and cut heads but that does not work. Sometime the human interaction can not be replaced by a tablet. Due to less man power, the crew is stressed and one can see that on their faces and their faces. Very few are friendly, when is the last time you cruised and the bus boys nearly ran the passengers over because they needed to rush back to the galley. A first for me. The ice cream machine was consistently broken, the coffee machine in the Windjammer was broken for the whole cruise. People it's a 4 month old ship.
