The Quantum is an awesome ship. Big, bold and beautiful. The seas were rough down and back, but she handled them well.
Boarding: I didn't see anyone running around with ipads checking everyone in. We went to a desk and we were prechecked in online, so it was fast. I had to have my picture taken, even though online it said that it uploaded fine? We were supposed to be able to track our luggage, but that was a no go because no one put the stickers on our luggage. I even asked about it, but they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. We had a preselected checkin time which meant nothing. The weather did not cooperate so people seemed to be checking in when they got there. I believe that around 200 people did not make it and had to get on in San Juan. We made a decision to drive up the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Staten Island. I think that we actually saved money. The parking would have been over $200 at the port and we had free parking, free shuttle, free breakfast, and no tolls.
Internet access: If you want to stay connected, be prepared to pay! Ours I believe was the first cruise that did not get free internet. A package would have costed us over $200! Really? Do some rough math on over 4000 passengers paying for that and tell me how much money that is. During the last 3 days they had a special to make some money from those who did not get it. We decided to take them up on it. It was not perfect nor fast. I did an Ookla Speed test and it tested at 1.00 Mbps down and .58 Mbps up. My speed at home is 52.21 Mbps down and 12.2 Mbps up. I have residential cable connection. We did have nasty weather when I decided to get it, and that may have affected the speed. But I did talk with others who paid for the package and were not wowed.
We don't spend much time in the room, but this room was awesome. A lot of improvements over previous rooms. The shower was a lot better. The only thing that we didn't like was the fact that you had to put your SeaPass in a slot to have power in the room. TV selections were lousy, but we really don't watch that much TV.
