Sail Date: Feb 2015

We were somewhat apprehensive after reading some awful reviews but we were very pleased with our experience. We sailed in early February for a 7 day cruise and added an additional 4 days. As mentioned many times elsewhere this is a magnificently appointed ship. We have sailed on Princess 8 times and also used Celebrity and Carnival. This ship beats them all for it's style and elegance. The theatre holds some 1,600 guests and the shows are the best we have ever seen on of our previous cruises. The quality and variety of the performers, costumes and stage set up is what you would pay for in London or New York.

It is a very international cruise line and guests were from all over the world. Many from Europe, Scandanavia, South America, Asia and North America. English is the first spoken language although they do use other predominate languages when needed. We found the Cruise Entertainment Director and his team to be excellent, funny, friendly and enthusiastic. The Captain was also very entertaing when present on stage and everyone loved his interaction with the crew and passengers.

Food was good. We had good variety in dining room with lobster, steak, prime rib etc., plus pasta and Nice deserts. The fish is excellent but they could do better with their meat dishes as they lacked a typical North American punch. Service in the dining room was quick and efficient. We were on late sitting and were always done and out in about 1 hour and 45 minutes. The buffet was quite adequate and of course it gets very crowded for breakfast around 8-10 am. We always went to the rear buffet called Manitou which was quieter with ample seating. I know food has been negatively mentioned in other reviews but we found plenty of variety. Eggs done boiled, fried, scambled, omelette... Bacon, sausage, hash browns, corned beef hash, all sorts of breads, cereals, fruit etc. What more could you want? The pizzas were fantastic and available all day, even at midnight. Tables were cleaned quickly although you did have to get your own drinks with 3-4 different types of drinks to choose from. Breakfast and lunch is served restraunt style in two dining rooms with waiter service but we never used this as we enjoyed the flexibility of the buffet.

Cabin Review

Cabin was well designed with plenty of space and cupboards. We put our suitcases under the bed. Bathroom was typically set up with nice towels and all fittings were virtually new. Temperature was adjusted by thermostat which worked well.
