We just finished a 10 night Mexican Riviera cruise out of San Francisco (Feb. 2015). Overall, our experience was very nice, we're pretty easy going and can have a good time wherever we go. For the sake of information, I'm writing a very nit-picking review covering as many points as I can.
First, the ship itself. Everything seemed a little dated and run down. Some newer decor and some fresh paint would have been a huge improvement. Some new carpet also, a big help. Lots of rust outside that should have been repainted, snagged and fraying carpets throughout the ship. All the windows were very dirty and hard to see out of. All minor things that didn't ruin the trip, they just didn't add to it.
The public space/areas was very limited. There was a small "Piazza" that was surrounded by a couple of bars, very, very few shops and a tiny cafe. The cafe is the only 24 hour place for food aside from room service. There are only TWO restaurants outside of the main dining rooms and buffet. The Piazza didn't have a lot of places to sit and tended to be very crowded on at-sea days. A few TINY pools and some hot tubs scattered across the ship. Not enough for all the people on board. A very small "nightclub" that was empty every night. A small casino and two unimpressive theater/lounges. As far as public space goes, there wasn't enough of it. The impression we got was that this ship was built to fit in as many cabins as possible. Replace a few restaurants and shrink down the open space to fit more passengers.
