This cruise was just my husband and me. It was the first of three back-to-back cruises. We chose to do back-to-backs because of the price and the distance that we would be driving. So, we had a four day cruise to Catalina and Ensenada, then a three day cruise to Ensenada, then another four day to Catalina and Ensenada.
The embarkation on the first cruise was a little longer then usual for Long Beach. The shore person that checked us in advised us that clearing and getting the ship ready was taking a little longer because of the Super Bowl crowd that was getting off of the ship. They started boarding at about 2:00pm.
The embarkation process went smoothly and our room was ready when we boarded so we were able to drop off our carry-ons and get right to the fun.
We booked this at the very last minute and decided to take the least expensive cabins we could find. The first and third cruises were in R64 Cat. 1A upper/lower cabin. We had never been in a cabin with single bunk beds before and thought it would be fun see what it was like. The pros were the location of the cabin (midship and in a hallway we hardly every saw anyone in) and the extra floor space in the room (the room was 144 sqft.) The cons were climbing up and down the ladder to get in and out of bed. My husband said the bed was very comfortable. For the middle cruise we were in R4, a porthole cabin with a king size bed, This cabin (due to it's location at the front of the ship) is bigger than the standard inside and oceanview cabins that we have stayed in before.
