I am a 35 year old gal cruised with my 25 year old cousin (also female) who was also cruising for the first time. I am from western WA and wanted some sun in the midst of the winter. A little background of myself: I am a professional in the health care industry who loves to travel. I like to be well-informed and believe the research part of the trip is half the fun! I have a pretty healthy lifestyle but not afraid to indulge (such as during vacations) on occasions. This cruise was meant to be mostly a relaxing cruise with some sightseeing and I did not want a port intensive itinerary.

Hotel:

I spent the night prior at Hampton Inn in Blue Lagoon near the MIA. Service was good and there was even 2 drug stores across the street to get all the travel size items before embarkation. Taxi ride to the dock was less than $30, which I thought was reasonable as there was traffic.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BB

I have a history of bad motion sickness and picked the mid ship in lower deck with this in mind. Some would say the aft is also good but I did not want to take the chance. I also took zofran (ondansetron) once daily and did not have any problem. I had to take OTC anti-nausea once before bed on the 2nd night because the sea was really choppy, and found out many passengers had similar problem. The room was bigger than expected with plenty of storage space for 2. The bed was average. The room can be noisy from the ship rocking at night but not bad at all and I slept like a log. Our cabin steward Jonathan was professional, friendly and very efficient! My cabin mate randomly put her change of clothes on the bed while we went out to eat for an hour, came back to made up bed and clothes folded neatly on the nightstand! We felt bad and made sure to fold it ourselves. All the crew members are very hard working and deserve appreciation. I have no problem with tipping extra for good service! P.S. I would definitely get a balcony again and probably a balcony spa which is cheaper than getting a separate 1-week spa package ($200).
