The Itinerary:
We took the round-the-Horn cruise starting in Valparaiso (with organized private tour from Santiago including a Casablanca winery). It's advisable to build in a couple of extra days to see Santiago and Valparaiso ( the latter is a particularly fascinating city).
This was our first time on this itinerary and we found it fascinating. Our first stop was Puerto Montt where we took a ship excursion to Frutillar and Puerto Varas....Frutillar is delightful but we had a very bad tour guide. The A/C on the bus was not working and so the top window had to remain open which made it almost impossible to hear any commentary. In any event the guide was very disinterested in explaining anything and on the whole it was really bad. The only other Celebrity excursion we took was in Buenos Aires and again we had a dreadful guide with a poor command of English. In future we will not take any Celebrity excursions but will rely on private tours organized on cruise critic roll call boards. The ones we did this time were really excellent.
Overall a good choice....well organized and plenty of room for clothes and all the bits and pieces one brings on cruises.
