This was booked at the last minute and I went with family, booking two balcony rooms. My room was on Deck 11, located in the Forward section. The Aloha Cafe (the buffet) was on the opposite side of the ship. There are a lot of things you read on CruiseCritic that are true and some are just whiny complainers. Here's my take:

Truth: It is an excellent and affordable way to get through a lot of the islands. You can't beat the price as you don't need to pay for island flights (usually $100-150pp) and you get your food/lodging all taken care of. The overnights in Maui and Kauai are great, because you don't need to rush to return to the ship. However, just be mindful that going out at night might not be that exciting since bars, clubs, and all that aren't going to be very abundant other than on Oahu (in Honolulu and Waikiki).

Myth DEBUNKED: Despite a lot of reviewers's complaints on here about it being a majority American crew members, I've never felt that the crew I had to deal with daily ever acted impolitely. Room stewards and food service staff were among the most well trained onboard. Why do some reviewers complain about them? Probably because they don't go out of their way to talk to you (whether it's shyness or giving passengers some space). However, if you ever start up a conversation with a cruise member, you will find them extremely cool and friendly.

Room was located on Deck 11 on the Forward side. It is a few steps away from the Pool Area. Despite its proximity, there were no issues with noise at night, since most evening activities are inside. The only noise you might possibly hear is when they pack up the lounge chairs at 6-7PM. Great view and no obstructions at all. Cabin size was also good for a Norwegian ship and never felt cramped.
