We are fairly frequent cruisers, and we've said Carnival a couple of times before. We love Royal Caribbean cruise lines, and I suspect we'll book on RC in the future. I can't say we had a BAD time on Carnival - vacation is often what you make of it. But there were some pretty evident cut backs that, unless you cruise frequently, you may not have noticed.

I'll start with the bad, and then move on to the good. The bad:

*Lack of bar service was our biggest complaint. On most cruises there +are lots of people walking around trying to push drinks on you. This is the first cruise I've ever been on that you couldn't really get bar service, or it was very limited. Not nearly enough staff at the pools or in the shows. And we gave up on bar service in the dining room.
