The Carnival Fantasy was a wonderful introduction to cruising. I found a dirt cheap last minute fare for my husband and myself. Driving down to Charleston (from PA) was an easy drive down 95. The Magnolia Plantation and Charleston Museum are great for those that are interested in history, nature or beauty. We stayed at the beautiful and comfortable Sleep Inn. they had a shuttle to the ship, but we chose to drive in. They let us check our bags in early, explore the town and come back to park later. Embarkment was set up in several stages so you never felt like you were really in line with hundreds of people. We paid for an ocean view room and it was much bigger than I expected, with a "king" bed, vanity and small side table. With the small map we explored the boat and quickly got familiar with the layout. We played mini golf while the boat left Charleston. I really enjoyed the stage shows, Motor City and the Marriage Game in particular. There is lots of free stuff to win if you are cagey about it. My husband love the sit-down dinners which were always beautiful and tasty.

Research your destinations before you go if you want to do anything but shop. Also it is easy to find cheaper excursions. The van to Paradise island (Nassau) or the Grand Lucyana hotel (Freeport) was easy to catch and inexpensive. Potter's Cay off-season was a huge disappointment. We headed back to the ship for lunch both days since it was so easy to get on and off.

Definitely bring a clock, waterproof watches and a sign for your door. Our steward and waitstaff were warm and personable. Each night we dressed up for dinner and posed for several photographs. Getting dolled up made it seem more special. This cruise was the perfect length, we had done everything we wanted to expect the piano bar which was habitually empty. The single pool will be quite crowded in warmer weather, but the two hot tubs in Serenity were a good bet most days. This was a very nice introduction to cruising, but the next time we will choose a boat with more bells and whistles (and pools) or a trip with more shore days to keep things interesting.

Ocean View

Cabin 6B

Plenty of room for two people, great natural light. large vanity and small side table. Short shower and standard bathroom. 3 closets and a set of drawers made my hanging organizer not necessary. It you are over 6' or claustrophobic I suggest showering in the spa or gym.
