We booked our cruise just a couple of weeks before departure and received a very good price for a balcony room on deck nine. Embarkation was a little crazy. Everyone prints out their luggage tags and places them on their luggage ahead of time, but when we arrived, some guy from Carnival had us fill out another one and then ASKED for a tip! There was a very long line to check in and it took about an hour to get through the line and onboard.

The room was very typical of any balcony room on Carnival, but the bedding pillows and decorative throw were very worn. The room steward did a pretty good job of keeping the room clean; although, I am not sure he always knew when went to dinner. Unfortunately, we had a room that adjoined another and we could hear every word the people in that room said. They were a group of young adults, and their music at times was quite annoying. Be sure to ask for a room that does NOT adjoin another!

Their were plenty of places on the ship to eat. We dined every evening in the Scarlet Dining Room and our service was impeccable! Our waiters were probably the best were have ever had on a cruise, and we have cruised NCL, Celebrity, and Carnival several times. We never had to asked for anything, the service was prompt, and the food very good. I thought the food was better than our eleven-night cruise last September on Celebrity out of Rome. We ate lunch a couple of times in the pasta bar.... delicious. The buffet is typical and not fancy. The burgers and pizza were great. We did not try the steak house as we just don't think we should have to pay additionally for dining.
