Cabin: Aft-Facing Penthouse with Large Balcony

I just completed my 4th cruise and this was the 3rd with Norwegian. This was the weekend trip from Miami to the Bahamas with one day in Nassau, one at the private island for sun, sea and sand and then back to port. It was to celebrate my brother's 50th birthday. He likes crowds and activity and I like quiet. This ship allowed for both. The ship itself was in good shape. The staff were helpful and motivated. This was a last-minute booking and there were some minor problems with our package but the staff sorted it out with MY satisfaction as their goal. Don't use the food on the SKY to judge what you'll get on other Norwegian ships. The food was OK, but not special. It was much better my other NCL cruises (to Alaska and the Caribbean) but those were 7 day trips. Our cabins were great. I booked a cabin with a balcony and got a fantastic upgrade to a suite with separate bedroom and sitting areas, double-balcony and extra services. Sets the bar higher for the next trip for sure. I sailed the fjords of Norway on Royal Caribbean (NCL didn't have a Norwegian cruise that year!) and that was a great disappointment. By their own words they 'were packed' and offered poor customer service, disappointing food and insufficient activities. No more RC for me. My future cruises will be on Norwegian for sure.

Cabin Review

Aft-Facing Penthouse with Large Balcony

Cabin SE

This cabin has a separate bedroom and living area. The bedroom is not much larger than the bed itself but has sliding doors to the balcony, built in cabinets and closet, and a very comfy bed. The bathroom was sizable for a ship, with a jetted tub and walk-in shower. The 'hall' has 2 closets in addition to what is in the bedroom and one of these has the small safe. The living room also had sliding doors off to the balcony. It was furnished with a small table with two chairs, a loveseat, and built-in cabinets on two walls. The 'galley' area had a small fridge, ample glassware and dishes to eat in, and an espresso machine. Watch the creamers - some were curdled and they replaced the whole dish at my request. The opposite wall as more storage and cabinet space with the TV, DVD player and a strip-outlet for chargers. This was the only outlet that accepted typical USA plugs. This cabin comes with a concierge and butler services. We didn't use them much but it was nice to have someone available to take care of our concerns personally. Though food is available all the time, the afternoon 'snacks' were a nice touch. Champagne waiting for us at check-in, and a daily delivery of a treat like chocolate-covered strawberries, a cheese plate, and hors doerves. The only 'down side' to this cabin is the occasional diesel exhaust that blows in. This doesn't happen while the ship is moving, but in port or while 'idling' it's enough to avoid using the balcony. Deck 9 is a good spot without any restaurants or theaters directly above or below so it maintains the peace and quiet.
