When we decided to marry on a cruise ship, we quickly discovered the only US flag carrier was Princess Cruises. Soon after, I came home with a few itineraries to the Caribbean islands as well as a wild card to the South Pacific. It came down to one statement: How often does a person travel to the South Pacific? We were immediately sold by the small number of passengers as well as the leisurely ports and schedule. Let me tell you bluntly: The trip to the Polynesian and Cook Islands were truly an extraordinary experience. Untouched, uncommercialized and a peaceful paradise would be words of accurate description. The staff of Princess Cruises, from the Captain to the photographer, took every opportunity to make our wedding and honeymoon memorable. If you are seeking a cruise of rare items and excellent shopping, you have chosen the wrong destination.

AS A BRIDE, I HAVE WRITTEN A FEW THINGS FOR YOU TO CONSIDER while preparing for your wedding/honeymoon.

THE WEDDING EXPERIENCE is a company out of Miami, Florida who will take care of everything from the music to the cake. Expect to make a full payment for the wedding four days after deciding a cruise ship-destination wedding is your plan. Despite the cost of roughly $2800, they made the experience simple. We sat on the couch one evening and filled out a checklist of our wedding preferences. My spa appointment was scheduled as well as arranging specialty dining at one of the restaurants the evening of the wedding. Once you are aboard and days before the wedding, someone will ask time and again if you are pleased with the arrangements. Do not expect a wedding chapel. However, we were thrilled to find the library decorated perfectly in white chiffon and electric candles. Our Captain was nervous, but willing to take his time rereading phrases and/or sentences to ensure everything was perfect. Since the ship was small, expect a standing ovation and applause from people you have met before your wedding day! Expect to be taken from bow to stern so that all can see you in bridal and groom attire!
