This was our fourth Celebrity Cruise and second time on this ship and this itinerary. Overall, Celebrity continues to be a good line with above average service and nice ships. Their service was a little off this trip, and the bar service was very slow and at times disappointing. We wondered if the bartenders had lost interest since almost everyone onboard has a drink package under Celebrity's 123, so perhaps the bartenders were making less tips. All others on board were very helpful and our room steward was wonderful. One of the main exterior doors next to our stateroom was not adjusted properly and shook the room when closed. Maintenance addressed this within a few hours. Captain Tasos is the friendliest captain we have ever met on a ship. He truly sets the stage for his officers. Strongly encourage attending his presentation entitled building a solstice class ship which details the design and building of their solstice ships in Germany. Captain Tasos was selected to be safety officer for the project and he details the design, build and launch and tells lots of stories during the 90 minute presentation. One other point worth noting is his and his crews seamanship. This may sound odd, but he makes a point of not using the bow thruster unless the winds require it. His theory is the ship is plenty maneuverable with their pod drives and that the thrusters disturb the guests because of vibrations. It wasn't until we heard him say this that we realized we were never disturbed from engine vibrations docking in any ports. Those things don't normally bother me, but it was a nice way to sum up his approach to guest comfort coming first.

Cabin Review

Aqua Class Balcony

Cabin A1

These cabins were added when the ship was refit 3 years ago. The space used to be a jogging track. The cabin itself was nice, and the bath was more modern tile and glass doors. The balcony was a good size with nice synthetic teak decking. The only room complaint is that the cabins on deck 11 aft are not as private as the other aft staterooms. This particular cabin had no privacy to the sunset grill below. This really bothered us on departure day because the back deck was packed with people (many very loud). It turned out though that this was the only day it was very loud. Otherwise, mornings people would be outside and most of the day it was quiet. We also enjoyed having live music at the sunset grill each late afternoon. I would continue to seek an aft facing stateroom below deck 11, but if this were once again the only stateroom available, I would be ok with it.
