this was to be our dream wedding anniversary cruise to the caribbean, spoilt by P&Os relentless quest to extract every last £££ from its ageing passengers. We had asked for a double cabin and our booking confirmation from P&O acknowlegded the request. Imagine our dismay when we were given a twin cabin! some mistake surely so we went to reception......sorry cabins connot be changed once allocated and what do we expect for £2700! The cabin was an inside twin and the beds were comfortable enough but only one desk type chair to sit in. Shower and toilet were very cramped and shower tray and toilet seat were discoloured shower curtain was mouldy around bottom. Room lighting was very poor for reading with a constantly flickering bedside light. Our cabin attendant was Richard who was 1st class
2nd day at sea my wife was feeling a little sea sick so i went to the medical room £60-105 for a consultation only! plus whatever was prescribed!!!WOW.(this must be a nice little earner when most passengers were 70+ years of age). on day3 i went to reception to ask for a copy of my account so far £200 had been added to my bill for " Auto Gratuity Charge" ie tips (there are 2000 passengers on oceana thats £8000 per day-thats £2.92 million a year!. We liked to sit in the explorer bar for a read and a latte coffee in the morning and to do that every day will Costa (pun intended) £103.20 at the discounted price!
Every where we went onboard and onshore there were ships photogrophers waiting to take your picture hoping to sell photos of your fantastic time. Also worth noteing Budwiesser £3.50 for 330ml thats £7.00 a pint.by this time the old adage"you can only kill a cow once, but you can milk it every day" springs to mind
very disapointing
