We are frequent NCL cruisers and have left out of NYC many times. We really enjoy the longer Caribbean trips in the winter. This was our first cruise on one of NCL's largest ships; in fact we have avoided these ships. They just seemed too big. This year, only the Breakaway did the itinerary we wanted, so we gave it a try.
We left the day of an ice storm and arrived at port later than we planned. Check in went quickly and easily. We were on the ALLIN promo and all the stickers were on the key cards. We were in our cabin in no time and the Latitudes as well as the remaining ALLIN documents and vouchers were there along with the promised wine, bubbly and bottled water. By the time we returned from lunch, the chocolate covered strawberries were also there.
A minor criticism . . . The ALLIN promo gives you a bottle of water per day and the chocolate covered strawberries, Latitudes also gives the berries. Everything was delivered the first day . . . Three plates of berries is too much for one day and, sadly, many went to waste. 24 liters of water take up a lot of space in a cabin. NCL needs to make some adjustments in how they handle this aspect go the promo.
Typical layout for balcony. Close to aft stairway and directly under the buffet. We were concerned about noise due to location but it was totally a non issue. A couple of nights we heard the bass from Spice H2o, but it was not loud or a problem. There is an overhang (from the buffet), it provided nice coverage and protection from rain and also from the sun. Serious sun lovers might not be happy with that.
