If you are sailing as an Elite member you will certainly enjoy the onboard activities, specifically for members. But since they are so blatant, they put off first time cruises to Celebrity. More than once we were removed from the Constellation Lounge so staff could set up for cocktails for Elite members. No one ever seemed to be in the wine bar or the Bistro on 5-why not use those bars for Elite members instead of removing guests from the Constellation Lounge? There is a private lounge onboard for Elite member’s exclusive use, they also get to jump the tender lines and have open setting in the dining room. I’m not opposed to Celebrity taking care of frequent cruisers, but I won’t cruise with Celebrity again because of their obvious lack of concern for first time cruisers and blatant preference for Elite members. Midway through the cruise, I addressed this problem on the ship provided note card to the Hotel Manager and received an unsatisfactory response from the activities director.

Boarded ship in Valparaiso – waited in a line to check-in but it wasn’t moving, because to the right, disable passengers, and to the left Elite members took what seemed to be our designated check-in area, thus no one in our line was being checked-in. My husband spoke to the onsite supervisor/ship personal (possibly the immigration purser) and was told bluntly to wait; everyone had to wait! He became rude, when my husband insisted he address the problem; however, he had no interest in understanding the problem. A group of French passengers, my husband and I then spoke with the young man at the head of our non-moving line, again; he then understood the problem. He moved a group of 12 passengers to another line and temporarily roped off the disabled line, so guests in our line were serviced. Celebrity offered lots of opportunities to wait in long lines

Oceanside Café at dinner time is like eating in the crew mess. I heard about “operation mattress” the onboard problem with bed bugs, disgruntled staff etc. For a passenger, it is not a very pleasant experience. On several ships I have sailed on, at dinner time the buffet café tables are set with linen, candles and mood lighting, creating a very nice atmosphere. Crew members have a roped off area of their own, so they may also eat in the Oceanside café and not discuss ship’s problems with passengers listening.

Cabin Review

Cabin 6

Our cabin was very tired looking. We requested that the dirty and stained bed skirt be replaced; this was done. Our porthole had ugly inside stains and was so dirty outside that there was no reason to have a porthole. The shower grout needs to be cleaned. Our room Stewart explained that the interior porthole couldn’t be painted because the paint smell would linger; however a primer was used to cover the stained area. He indicated that the porthole windows were cleaned regularly in port; however ours was never cleaned providing a very blurry and disappointing view.
