Just got back from our first cruise on the Oasis. We were part of a group of 12. The first impressions of the ship were great. We were on the ship fast and easy. The ship itself was fantastic with its promenade and Central Park theming, among other areas on the ship. The entertainment was very good, probably the best quality of any of the nine cruises I have been on. ( Carnival, Celebrity, Royal Caribean) Where the ship was lacking and where we were mostly disappointed, was the food. It was lacking quality and taste. We were especially disappointed in our main dinning room dinners. We did purchase 2 specialty dinners, to try and upgrade. The first, specialty dinning, at the Italian place, in Central Park, was okay. Not worth the extra money.
The second was Chopps in Central Park. That was worth the extra fee, however, I did not like the fact that they had another up charge on some of the dishes. The aged striploin I had was great, however, I had to pay a total of $55.00 extra for the dish and dinner reservation, for each person. Thats a lot considering my dinner at the main dining area was already paid for as part of my trip. The only other item on the boat that was a little disappointing was the appearance of the chairs, couches and carpet. the ship isnt that old, however, they were well worn with stains on them. The service from waiters and waitresses was a little disappointing. They seem to give a little more effort on the other ships I have been on.
One othe item we were all disgusted by. We could not beleive they still allow smoking in the Casino. It was very unpleasant on either side. Having one side of one large room non smoking, is a joke. The decision makers, should definitly consider banning smoking inside, and only allow in designated outdoor areas.
ok. Couch dirty looking. Should have been at least one lounge chair on deck to lie down to relax.Whistling sound from patio door, mostly at night.otherwise it was normal, clean room.
