My wife and I recently returned from the 4 Jan 2015 sailing on the Nieuw Amsterdam. We have taken many cruises on Holland America, and I can say with 100% certainty that this was by far the best.

Embarkation was a breeze at 10 minutes and our cabin (#1099) was located mid ship on the main deck. It was an ocean view cabin, had more than enough storage space and those lovely bed linens and mattress. This was some of the best sleep we have gotten in some time.

We cannot say enough good things about the Manhattan dining room. The staff was quite attentive without being intrusive. The food was expertly prepared and the portions were more than adequate. Each night there were at least 6 entrees from which to choose. Whether you prefer the prime rib, NY strip, basa filet, rack of lamb or filet mignon and lobster tail, you won't be disappointed.
