In 2012 my girlfriend and I took our first cruise on the Liberty of the Seas. It was a 4 night cruise with one stop in Cozumel. We chose this short trip as a way to see if we would enjoy cruising. We thought the ship was fantastic, and we really enjoyed Cozumel, however the vacation did not turn me into a "cruise junkie".

Late last summer we started talking about where we should take our winter vacation. We had always said if we took another cruise it would have to be on either the Allure or Oasis (bigger is better right?) So I started reading reviews, and looking at you tube videos of the ships. We decided, The Allure would be our vacation! I booked a balcony cabin on the 12 floor through a travel agency and I was happy. Now I'm the kind of person who keeps checking prices, as I always want to find the lowest price (some may call it cheap). About a month after I made my reservation I noticed the cabin price dropped significantly, I called the travel agent and got it reduced. A few days after that price reduction, the same thing happened and it was reduced again. Once again the TA got me the lower rate. Surprisingly after about another week, the price dropped once more by $100+ but this time the TA would not match the price. I cancelled my initial reservation and booked a similar room through a different agency. Unbelievably, the price dropped considerably again, and this TA would not price match. During this period, I started looking at the Oasis prices to see how they compared. I was shocked to see that I could sail on the Oasis (leaving one day earlier, Sat) for considerable less. Yes it was the Western Caribbean instead of the Eastern, but truthfully I thought that route sounded more enjoyable ( I thought Labadee looked like a fun place). So I cancelled my Balcony room on the Allure and booked a Grand Suite on the Oasis for virtually the same price (+$200).

I was very happy with my choice to change ships, especially since I would be sailing in a suite. When we were on the Liberty our Balcony room was nice and comfortable, but the space was tight and I thought that the extra room and perks of a Grand Suite would really make the trip more enjoyable. I continued to watch the prices daily (and yes they did drop once), but what I had my eye on now was a Crown Loft Suite. From watching all of the you tube videos, I always thought the coolest thing would be to stay in a two story loft suite. The price was about $900 more than the GS, and I watched an waited hoping they would come down. Unfortunately they never dropped in price. However, when I saw them disappearing fairly quickly the closer it came to sailing time, I pulled the trigger and booked one.

Cabin Review

Crown Loft Suite with Balcony

Cabin L1

The 17 deck is small and private. Very quiet floor with convenient access to the suite lounge and Costal Kitchen. The Crown Loft suites are amazing! Wonderful views, spacious, attractive, and comfortable rooms. The second bathroom proved to be very handy. The shower in the upstairs bathroom is huge and could easily fit three adults (loved the rain shower head). The 17 foot windows provide great views even from the loft bedroom.
