Cabin: Inside Twin with Shower

This was our fourth cruise with P & O and the most disappointing. Check in was efficient and speedy and once on board we were able to have lunch and our cabins was soon available. However, the inside cabin was so small that it was almost claustrophobic. The bed, fortunately, was comfortable but there was only one upright chair and nowhere else to sit apart from on the bed. The lighting was appalling, to read I had to use a torch. I understand now that the cabins are the smallest on the fleet. As some others have commented, the Plaza buffet restaurant takes up the whole of what would be an observation lounge so there is nowhere to sit and look out - even if it was just sea and more sea. All public lounges were internal with no outside views. With regard to the food, the menus in the main restaurants were very fancy but, mostly, the food was anything but, very bland and unappetising. The self-service buffet in The Plaza was a 'free for all' with so much pushing and shoving that you would have thought the food was running out so we avoided that for the rest of the cruise. Cafe Jardin was a good place for lunch but the menu there was limited and the same every day the soups there were, however, wonderful. We did go there in the evening for an additional charge but again the menu was limited and not inspiring even from Marco Pierre White. We cancelled a booking for the Horizon restaurant after bad reports from fellow passengers. The crew were, in the main, amazing, very helpful and friendly although one or two waiters were rather surly but that's only to be expected when some of the passengers were so rude and demanding of them. We were disgusted with the attitude of some passengers who refused to adhere to any dress code and were so rude not only to the crew but to fellow passengers. The shows put on by The Headliners were always excellent but some of the other cabaret acts were very mediocre. There was one excellent comedian, John Martin, and we loved The Patriot Girls who were also very friendly. The speakers were good but there was too little variety. We have another cruise on Oceana booked for January 2016 which we will be cancelling and looking for another on a different P & O ship which has a better layout and slightly larger cabins than Oceana. If this had been my first cruise, I don't think I would be booking another.

Cabin Review

Inside Twin with Shower

Cabin OC

Cabin very small and uncomfortable. Nowhere to sit apart from one upright chair and the bed which was very comfortable. The lighting appalling requiring a torch to read. The fridge was very useful but didn't work for 4 or 5 days.
