Sail Date: Jan 2015
Cabin: Balcony

We've cruised NZ in 2013 with Holland America on the Oosterdam and decided to cruise again but as there wasn't a HA cruise ship on the date we wanted went with the Sun princess. The service throughout the ship was as good as on the Oosterdam but unfortunately that's where any similarity stops. The room we had this year was with a balcony on deck 9 which certainly made it comfortable but if you are a big person and I'm 5'10 and weigh 102Kg taking a shower was a real challenge unless you opened the door to the bathroom to dry oneself!. The food selections in their only buffet style was limited in comparing to the oosterdam which was incredible and on many days there meat dish selections were Pork. The meals in the Al La Carte could not be faulted although on several days we decided to eat elsewhere, probably because the menu wasn;t appealing to us. If you want a cabin go for midship on level 9 as we found it the one that didn't feel like to ship was moving too much when we did encounter some challenging evenings.

The shows are ok but only 30 minutes with timing of the last show being 10pm if you are at the 7.45pm dining so be prepared for a late night as that means you'll be out of the show around 10.45pm.

The Pizza restaurant shouldn't be missed but get there early.

Balcony

Cabin BC

Room with Balcony made it comfortable and flatscreen tv was large (may be too large for the room). 2 chairs and small table on deck. One only chair in room so one person needed to be on the bed. Bathroomis really small and drying oneself a challenge.
