Recently returned from a 7 night cruise to the Western Caribbean. This was our 9th cruise, and the 4th on a Carnival ship. We had a great time - the ports of call were good, the food was good, service was good. Entertainment - well, it's taken a real nose dive since we last cruised two years ago. First of all, a DJ instead of a live Caribbean band....ugh.....the sail away party that ALWAYS has a live Caribbean band was just a DJ playing loud music. The nightly shows - definitely a C and D grade. One of the shows - 88 keys, was good, the rest were forgettable and the "reality" shows were very lame. The piano player in the piano lounge was ok on the piano but when she tried to sing, it was painful. There was a so-called band that had 2 guitar players and a keyboardist and two would-be singers that played in the atrium nightly. Band - ok, singers, very very bad. It's obvious that they have tried to cut costs on their entertainment. Comedy club was the only thing that was good. It was VERY easy to find a seat every night in the "featured" entertainment because most people just didn't go. Difficult to find a seat in the comedy club, because it was very good and people chose that as an alternative. Would love to return to the days when they brought in magicians, etc., for the featured nightly shows. We were so disappointed!
